Thailand New Measure to Protect 24 Beaches & Coastal Areas

Thailand's Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will introduce a new measure to conserve the environment and protect natural resources in 24 beaches and coastal areas. The said measure, to be entered into force on 31 January 2018, will prohibit the following: i) Smoking or disposing of cigarettes, except in designated areas; ii) Disposing of all forms of wastes, including toxic waste such as polystyrene substance, plastic and leftover oil, except in designated areas; and iii) Any act that can cause damage to the coastal areas.
